An unusual Himalayan ruderal accession from nearby Kashmir. It’s representative of a highland region known as the Galyat Himalaya. These Murree plants appear to be intermediate, meaning they’re midway between a fully domesticated landrace and ruderal (“wild” or weedy) Cannabis.
Murree is an alpine district that receives intense monsoon rains, like Kashmir to its immediate east. It appears to be the westernmost region in which the Himalayan hand-rubbing technique is typically used to harvest charas. It’s likely this Murree landrace is closely related to classic Kashmiri resin cultigens.
Grown at around 2500 metres, the Murree strain is an intensely resinous landrace that’s adapted to high rainfall and humidity. Good resistance to mold and cold can be expected. Plants can grow extremely tall, to well over 3 meters. The red-stem trait found in other South Asian landraces such as Kerala and Mazari can be shown. Leaflets are broad- to narrow-width, like western Kashmiri landraces and strains found to the north in the Hindu Kush. Similarly, aromas range from sweet citrus and floral to typical Hindu Kush scents such as gas and burnt rubber. As with all traditional resin landraces, CBD can be expected in a majority of plants.
Recommend to collectors seeking Kashmiri or other Himalayan landraces and rare hand-rubbed charas strains.
