New Accession from the Chitral Hindu Kush

The new accession from Chitral has tested nicely. Seeds show a high germination rate, and the seedlings are vigorous.

The plant shown is from the 2014 Chitrali accession – photo by a customer, seeds collected by Angus.

Chitral is the highest region of the Hindu Kush. Its main river – variously known as the Yarkhun, Mastuj, Chitral, and Kunar – lies along an intersection between the Central and South Asian populations of Cannabis. In other words, Chitral is a place where Indicas and Sativas and their wild-growing relatives meet and intermingle. For more about this, see the important study A classification of endangered high-THC cannabis.

For an idea of the range of variation within a single accession from Chitral – e.g. in leaflet shape and width, height, and type of aroma – even under objective conditions, check out further photos at the strain description for our Chitrali.
