Direct from Kandahar Province, these are seeds from Afghanistan’s winter 2019 harvest.
Kandahar is a crucial region for Cannabis. It’s an ancient centre of biodiversity, and a historic centre of production. Long prior to the Hippie Trail era, Kandahar was exporting charas (hashish) south to what are now Pakistan and India.
In the late ’60s the city of Kandahar became a stop on the Hippie Trail. Most famously, the Brotherhood of Eternal Love began exporting hashish from here to America. In 1971, the Harvard ethnobotanist Richard Evans Schultes undertook an expedition to the region at the request of the Brotherhood. In the deserts of the province, he formulated his concept of Cannabis indica as a distinict species unique to Afghanistan.
These Kandahari seeds haven’t yet been grown out, so we can’t make any claims regarding the morphology or aromas of this landrace. However, it is highly likely that many or most plants will conform closely to the Afghan Indica stereotype.
