A 1992 generation Mountain Skunk from the Appalachian Mountains, a wild and rugged highland region of eastern North America.

‘Mountain Skunk’ was a slang name given to high-end cannabis from the backwoods areas of Appalachia.

The true epicentre of the American cannabis trade in the prohibition era, regions such as Kentucky could and did operate at ten times the scale of California. Often, Appalachia was the ultimate source of a lot of ‘Californian’ lines.

Original 1992 seed stock of an outstanding Mountain Skunk variety was gifted to a collector and breeder in America, who shared the seeds with us.

Even in the 1990s, the varieties that true off-grid farmers cultivated in Appalachia were closer to the lines of the 1970s.

True Sativas or strongly Sativa-dominant, these Mountain Skunk lines are close to tropical landraces and are often descended directly from Mexican or Caribbean varieties.

In other words, ‘Mountain Skunk’ does not refer to the Skunk lineage per se – and definitely not to Skunk No. 1.
