A mostly broad-leafleted landrace cultivated in upper Hopar Valley in the Karakoram region of northern Pakistan, which borders Kashmir, Xinjiang, and the Hindu Kush.

Large plants that are likely to reach heights of beyond two meters in good land, these don’t fit neatly into the Indica-type / Sativa-type taxonomy of McPartland and Small, perhaps because they are from the approximate zone of intersection between Central and South Asian cannabis, i.e., are Indica-Sativa hybrids.

Aromas range from earthy spice, to sweet funk and rotten roadkill, so are mostly Indica-type.

Purple coloration was exhibited by many plants at the time of collection.

Essential to collectors interested in authentic traditional cannabis strains. For a similar accession, see the ‘Hunza Valley’.
