Unique to the Sinai mountains of Egypt, this landrace exhibits extraordinary terpenes, a special high, and sought-after ‘indica’ expressions. This is a fast-flowering strain that can show day-neutral (autoflowering) traits.

Indica-type expressions range from 0.6 – 1.5 metres and have a compact Christmas-tree profile. Sativa expressions range 1.3 – 1.8 metres height and have a trainable ‘vine’ habit with prolific branching. Both plants express a unique rose scent, with indica-type plants rankly pungent during vegetative growth but developing tangy ‘Turkish delight’ scents during flower. Buds grow in a foxtail structure, are reasonably airy, and are resinous. Buds of indica-type plants are less leafy and more dense.

This landrace is very hardy due to the demanding conditions in Sinai, which range from 50°c and high humidity in summer to dry, freezing conditions in winter.

Cultivation by Bedouin in the wadi is basic, occasionally using mud brought in from the Nile, but usually only camel dung.

The high from Sinai cannabis is distinctive, with a medicating and blissful effect.

Strains native to Sinai share more traits with landraces found to the north in the Middle East, which is the direction from which they originally spread out of Inner Asia, rather than with plants found to the south in Sub-Saharan Africa.

A proportion of plants exhibit CBD. A standout specimen tested in Holland exhibited 16% THC and 1.5% CBD.
